How do you determine monthly rate?

To begin, I always review your accounts for free! I will let you know of any specific issues that need to be addressed. Based on this review, I ask for a retainer before I do any work, rate varies depending on the current state of your books (generally between $200-$500).

You will be invoiced separately for any additional costs.

After review and cleanup/catchup work is complete, I have a good idea of the level of service your account will require each month. I will let you know the on going monthly rate at this time.

I offer the same monthly services to all my clients: categorize transactions, statement reconciliation, monthly and quarterly reports, on call as needed. Rates vary depending on multiple factors, including the size and nature of your business, complexity of accounts and work flow. (Work flow - how many steps it takes to gather and enter accurate data for your accounts). Some clients add on additional services (monthly GE filings, custom reports, invoicing and office administrative support), the extra services are considered in the monthly fee.

The number of transactions is NOT necessarily a factor. Depending on what the transaction is for, 100 transactions could take me 5 minutes, or 1 transaction can take an hour or more of research.

Do you use only QuickBooks Online?

Yes. QuickBooks Online is the standard that everyone knows. It's reasonably priced, easy to access across multiple platforms (your cell phone, laptop, etc), and your data will not be lost if your computer suddenly dies.

Other bookkeeping software is available. each one has pros and cons.

To date, all my clients are on QuickBooks Online, but I have used other systems and am open to exploring other options if you prefer. Having access will be the most important factor.
